Hello, I’m Sophia! Growing up in Hong Kong, I was exposed to the on-going dilemmas of mental health, due to living in a highly competitive and pressurizing environment. This made me interested in Psychology, as it focused on applying theories and treatments to help people cope with their struggles. I am a conscientious Masters-level graduate of Mental Health Studies at King’s College London with a considerable amount of volunteered clinical experience. I am half Chinese and Japanese but born and raised in Hong Kong. I am dedicated to helping individuals from diverse backgrounds. My curiosity allows me to learn and put the needs of different people first, to create a bigger impact.

I have taken up opportunities to facilitate my growth in the clinical psychology setting. Working as an assistant psychologist, I facilitated mindfulness sessions, applying my learning to help others cope in stressful situations. Working with Healing together will allow me to apply what I learnt over the years. I am excited to grow and enhance my skills alongside my clients as well as Healing Together. Mariska Hargitay once said, “Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.”

CLINICAL APPROACH

I am here to help clients understand their emotions or behavior by working together in breaking down the problem or emotion and finding a goal. Sometimes I understand that it can be difficult to take on challenges ourselves, but I believe self growth and happiness is a personal choice. Difficult situations can also offer opportunities for new insights and develop inner strength which in due course bring growth, a peace of mind and contentment. I am empathetic, compassionate and am here for you and with you through your challenges.

INTERESTS, HOBBIES, & FUN FACTS

I have played field hockey for 7 years back in highschool and took up rugby in university. Playing sports, hiking and the outdoors is something I am very passionate about. I enjoy hiking to see a spectacular view, with a goal in mind, it helps me keep going no matter how hard of a hike it is. I have always seen and used sports as a way to push forward and progress, and to fall back on in times of need. I take on any challenge in life as I would if I was playing a sport by spending time building physically and mentally everyday to train and work with full spirit and motivation.
