Hello! My name is Casey Suh, and my Korean name is Ko-eun. My parents immigrated from South Korea to America and met in Los Angeles, California, where I was born and raised with my younger brother. I grew up in Koreatown and attended an elementary school with a Korean-dual language program. My identity as a Korean-American shaped who I am today.

I lived in California until 2018 when I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a B.A. in Liberal Studies, related to teaching, with an art concentration and a minor in Psychology. Soon after graduating, I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to teach in a Title I elementary school and earned my teaching licensure. I wanted to incorporate my interests in arts and crafts, so teaching Kindergarten has been a perfect fit for me. While teaching, I realized the need for accessible therapy for children and families. With the plan to support others in understanding that “The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination” (Carl Rogers), I started attending Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) online after work.

I developed a passion for listening to others’ life journeys with respect and empathy. Upon graduating with a M.A. in Psychology, I started my journey at Healing Together as a clinical intern therapist in July 2022. After teaching for five years, I decided to officially change careers. I will further my education by earning my PsyD to become a licensed psychologist at Azusa Pacific University starting in August 2024.

CLINICAL APPROACH

In my clinical work, I empower clients to unravel their identity and restructure their core beliefs. Each individual is unique, thus every intervention modality will be tailored for each person. We will collaborate together to create the individualized treatment plans (ITP) that aligns with your goals in a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) format. I will use trust, compassion, and feedback to build rapport for our therapeutic relationship throughout our sessions to ensure you feel valued and heard. We will practice numerous therapy tools and techniques to use not only during our sessions but afterwards as well.

My therapeutic approach is holistic. I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Family Systems, and Mindfulness techniques. We will be focusing on and uncovering how unconscious meanings shape our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to change our self-talk and make rational choices to reach maximum potential. We can explore how childhood and community shaped our core beliefs. I strongly believe in equity and challenging stereotypes by implementing multiculturalism. I encourage clients to seek self-awareness in order to establish self-love and understanding of relationships with others.
