Hi! My name is Beth and I have a Master’s in Social Work and am currently working on obtaining my clinical license. I was born in South Korea and adopted when I was two years old to an American family, where I grew up in the Midwest. I’ve taken several trips back to Korea, which also included the experience of teaching English in Daegu.

As part of the Healing Together team, I want to offer supportive therapy services to Korean Adoptees and English-speaking residents in South Korea. I can identify with the many experiences that current residents may face in terms of cultural adjustment, fitting in, and navigating their own struggles. I have a deep desire to help others and offer patience, empathy, and compassion.

I have worked extensively with elderly adults and their caregivers as a case manager and in a supportive counseling role. My main focus has been providing emotional support, assisting with management of chronic health conditions, exploring family dynamics and the family system, and navigating caregiver burnout and stress, all the while utilizing a client-centered and solution-focused approach.

CLINICAL APPROACH

My approach is to assist you in navigating your inner struggles and challenges and identifying solutions together. The experiences of getting overwhelmed within your environments, in interpersonal relationships, or in getting through daily tasks are expected and normal. In your healing journey, I will take time to understand your needs, process your innermost thoughts and emotions, and help you develop the right tools and frame of mindset to work through the challenges in your environment, relationships, and lifestyle.

During sessions, I will offer tools and interventions that are personalized for you. We will work together to figure out what works best, and find a collaborative approach that is built on authenticity. I will promote and advocate for you to become more self-aware in order to feel your best. I will put my confidence and trust that you know yourself best, and that is why I will do my best to receive you with patience and a non-judgmental tone. My aim is to help you feel validated, embraced just as you are, and supported unconditionally through your challenges.

I believe that starting therapy takes so much courage and strength. I want to offer a safe and supportive space for you to feel comfortable being yourself and taking the necessary steps. It is possible to find hope within ourselves and our situations, and it will be an honor to come alongside and help you navigate these pieces of your life.
