Hi there! My name is Jiwon. Having spent my whole life in the UK, moving to South Korea as an adult and working as an English teacher has given me first hand insight into the challenges faced by English-speaking residents here, such as cultural adjustment, language barriers, and being away from loved ones. With a deep understanding of the emotional and practical difficulties of adapting to a new culture, I aim to provide empathetic and supportive therapy to English-speaking residents at Healing Together.

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology, and am currently pursuing a UK-accredited Level 2 Counselling qualification, strengthening my understanding of both the treatment and development of mental health issues. I plan to advance these skills through a doctoral program to become a psychologist. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can address their struggles and achieve their personal goals.

My professional journey in social care has focused on supporting individuals with mental health issues, disabilities, autism, and ADHD through everyday challenges and emotional stress. I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients and am especially committed to helping those from low-income backgrounds who face barriers to affordable therapy, as I strongly believe everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, regardless of their financial situation. My goal is to offer compassionate support to those who feel isolated or overwhelmed, no matter their circumstances.

CLINICAL APPROACH

My approach is client-centred, creating a non-judgmental and compassionate space for exploration and healing. As we each carry unique perspectives and beliefs, shaped by our experiences and environment, I recognise the importance of individualised care and strive to meet each client where they are.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I appreciate the benefits of mindfulness and spirituality. These elements can provide powerful tools for grounding, self-awareness, and personal growth, helping you connect more deeply with yourself and navigate your journey with greater resilience.

Our work together will be a collaborative process, guided by your insights and experiences. My goal is to support you in gaining greater self-understanding, developing practical tools, and making changes that align with your values and intentions. Your voice and knowledge about yourself will always be the central focus of our therapeutic journey.

INTERESTS, HOBBIES, & FUN FACTS

I find joy in long walks to parks, by riversides or in the beautiful Korean mountains. I appreciate quiet moments, and spend much of my time reading books or listening to podcasts. Visiting temples also holds a special place in my heart, providing a sense of peace and reflection. My love for learning is never-ending, particularly in psychology, religion, nutrition, design and politics. When I’m not studying or obsessively researching a new area of interest, I enjoy long talks with my loved ones both in Korea and overseas.
